Science - Ice Challenge

S6 had a fabulous time doing the ice challenge! Tracy froze water in gloves to make solid ice hands. S6 then paired up to see who could melt their hands the quickest. They were given pipettes, access to warm water and a container of salt. No instructions were given so learners had to use their initiative. Lots of different strategies were observed including using cups to crush the ice and pouring cups of warm water over the hands. Learners discovered that not only does the ice melt when salt is poured on it but it also makes a sound that was described as "popping" and "crackling".
