Warren School Key Stage 4 and Sixth Form Curriculum

Learners follow a developmental person centred curriculum. We use OCR’s Life and Living Skills suite of qualifications to build bespoke accreditation programmes suitable to the needs and aspirations of individual learners. OCR’s Life and Living Skills suite is a comprehensive range of versatile and adaptable qualifications, with no minimum entry requirements. There are 150 bite size units available providing certification at Entry Levels 1, 2 and 3 across a wide range of skills areas; including pre-employability, personal and social skills. There are no mandatory units or barred combinations at any level, allowing for varied personalised learning programmes with a completely flexible structure.

Key Stage 4;

All Key Stage 4 learners will access OCR Life and Living Skills. Learning attainment will be assessed through achievement of Learning Points. Accreditation attainment will be assessed through the achievement of credits for individual units at Entry Level 1, 2 & 3.

    • Ash Pathway – Will follow an Entry 1 programme, working between 3-5 on the Entry Level 1 Achievement Continuum.
    • Elm Pathway – Could follow an Entry 1 programme, working between 6-8 on the Entry Level 1 Achievement Continuum or they could follow an Entry 2 programme.
    • Oak Pathway – Could follow an Entry 1 programme, working between 8-10 on the Entry Level 1 Achievement Continuum or they could follow an Entry 2 or Entry 3 programme.

At the end of each year in Key Stage 4, learners will have achieved the following;

    • Y10 - Introductory Award (Min 2 credits at Entry 1, 2 or 3)

    • Y11 - Extended Award (Entry Level 1 only) (Min 9 (+7) credits (5 credits at Entry 1)

6th Form;

All 6th Form learners will access OCR Life and Living Skills.

    • Elm Pathway – will mainly follow an Entry 2 (Y12/13) and possibly an Entry 3 (Y13/14) programme. Those following an Entry 1 programme will be working between 6-8 (8-10) on the Entry Level 1 Achievement Continuum.
    • Oak Pathway –will mainly follow an Entry 3 programme.

At the end of each year in 6th Form (3 Years) learners will have achieved the following;

  • Y12 - Certificate (min 13 (+7) credits (7 credits at either Entry 1, 2 or 3) = 3 or 4 units)

(2 units Aut/Spr, 1 unit Sum = 5 units over year)

  • Y13 - Extended Certificate (min 25 (+12) credits (13 credits at either Entry 1, 2 or 3) = 4 or 5 units)

(2 units Aut/Spr, 1 unit Sum = 5 units over year)

  • Y14 - Diploma (min 37 (+12) credits (19 credits at either Entry 1, 2 or 3) = 4 or 5 units)

(2 units Aut/Spr, 1 unit Sum = 5 units over year)

In order to do this, learners will access a balanced curriculum across the academic year. The units are offered on a 5 year rolling programme, 2 years in KS4 and 3 years in 6th Form. The aim is to eliminate repetition for the learners and to allow for those on the Elm and Oak pathway to progress through the entry levels and for those of the Ash pathway to progress through the Entry Level 1 Achievement Continuum.

OCR Accreditation: Minimum credits per year.
